WordPress Essentials
WordPress is a platform for running websites. Begun as a blogging platform, WordPress is currently the worlds most popular CMS (Content Management System), being the basis of over 25% of websites.
This introductory course is the foundation for creating and maintaining a successful website. We look at prelaunch considerations such as finding a host, the structure of your site, and its functionality. There is a detailed overview of the WordPress interface, setting up and keeping your installation up to date, and an exploration of security and search engine optimisation.
The course offers methods to build and customise your site. Topics explored include: Pages vs. Posts, formatting text, adding images, sound and video, customising the look and feel of your site, and adding functionality through plugins and widgets.
While no previous coding experience is required to attend this course, an understanding of basic HTML & CSS is helpful. It is suitable for people who wish to start a new site or have been given the responsibility of running an existing site.
